Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
